FAQ
What is a premium remanufactured toner cartridge?
In a nutshell it’s a laser toner cartridge which has been refilled however the process is far more complex then refilling an inkjet cartridge. Using the original shell all of the moving parts and old toner are removed and replaced with brand new parts and of course a full cartridge of toner. By using remanufactured toner cartridges you will be helping the environment while recycling is important the emphasis should be placed on reusing items, remanufactured toners do exactly that, take a cartridge which has been used, replace the moving parts while still using the original shell.

What is a compatible cartridge?
A compatible cartridge is an exact copy of the original manufacturers cartridge only its made by someone else and because of that it is offered to you at a reduced price. Compatible cartridges are just as good as their genuine counterparts and in some cases even hold double to triple the ink.

I’ve got old empty cartridges I don’t need, what should I do with them?
These cartridges can be recycled, Planet Ark has bins at various locations where you can recycle your cartridge free of charge, you can return them to The Cartridge Shop for refilling or recycling or simply take them back to where you purchased them and ask them to recycle it for you. Please do not put these in your regular home garbage or recycle bins as they will not be recycled they will end up in our landfills and they don’t break down.

The pictures/text I’m printing isn’t coming out the best, there is lines or bits missing, what should I do?
First of all make sure your cartridge has ink in it. With some cartridges you have 3 colours inside the 1 cartridge if you find that 1 colour is missing it could be that that colour has run out and needs to be replaced.
Second of all your printer has some maintenance options which can clean your print heads. Print heads are either attached to your cartridge or inside your printer and ink can settle on these, dry up and stop you from printing, do a print head clean but never do more than 3 in a row. If your problem still persist contact your printer manufacturer.

I’m thinking about buying a new printer, but I’m not sure what to buy.
Buying a new printer can be a hard decision with so many brands and models out there you need to know what your getting. Below is a list of question you should ask yourself or your sales representative at your local store before purchasing a new printer. The Cartridge Shop is here to help with any enquiries that you may have, we have written several reviews on printers and can also give you real numbers for what your printer will cost you after market. But first answer these questions
  • What will the printer be mainly used for? Eg. School projects, picture printing, plain black printing
  • How much printing will you be doing? Eg. 10 pages per month, 20 pages per month, 40+ pages per month or over 100.
  • What do I need my printer to do? Eg. Print black and/or colour, print quality photos, scan documents, black and/or colour copying, fax machine.
  • How much money am I prepared to spend? Printers start from around $50 for your basic printer and can go into the thousands.
  • How much will the ink cartridges cost me to replace and how much printing will I get out of them? This is an EXTREMELY important question, all too often people end up spending the same amount on a new set of cartridges as the printer cost, find out and be sure before you buy.
  • Consider how much space you have to put the printer, some multi-functions can take up a lot of space.
Most importantly is don’t get drawn in by what seems like a bargin, do your homework and ask questions. You can e-mail us at any time for advice on what’s new and out there or visit our printers page or reviews page.

My printer model isn’t on your drop down box, do you have my cartridge?
If you can’t find your printer model on our drop down box please e-mail us at sales@thecartridgeshop.com.au and we can advise you of what you need. Unfortunately due to the ever expanding range of printer models out there its hard to keep up with them all.

I recently bought a new printer, what can I do with my old one?
Most major printer manufacturers will come and collect your old printer for you. If your manufacturer won’t do this, they can go with your garbage or have you considered selling it? You may not get a lot of money but someone’s trash is another person’s treasure.

Will purchasing compatible cartridges cancel my warranty?
Printer manufacturers try to scare you into thinking you have to buy their expensive cartridges in order to keep your warranty. This is not true, they may try to blame the problem on the compatible cartridge but your printer will still be covered under its warranty.
Ofcourse if there is a problem with your compatible cartridge we will happily replace the cartridge.
